Hi, I’m Matt. I’m a human based in Cape Town, South Africa. Despite being a human part-time, I’ve worked as a software engineer and forward-deployed engineer, and I run a SaaS, YouTube channel, and AI positioning consultancy. The important thing is that I’ve been missing a sense of community over the past few years. I feel like everyone has become obsessed with AI and lost touch with reality. I use LLMs every day—they’re indispensable in my work, and probably in yours too. But I want to talk more about the art, craft, and deliberate practice of software engineering and design. I want to be surrounded by energetic builders, thriving artists, but most importantly, critical thinkers solving real-world problems in software and technology.
